Today was our first official day of home school preschool. Considering this is obviously my first time of doing something structured, it went really well. But, as much fun as the kids had, I learned a few things myself.
Circle Time: For some unknown reason, I thought it would take my children 15 minutes to discuss the weather, practice writing the day, and to update the calendar. That was silly. It took a total of 3 minutes. Oops! I also realized how boring it was for them to just get stuff out of the way, so I am going to mix music time and circle time for now on.
Book Time: Unless I give them a way to get their wiggles out, book time may not be the best thing to do right away. Or, since I am going to do music with circle time, maybe that will help. But in any case, my boys certainly had a case of the wiggles today.
Art: Our art project lasted longer than I had thought. And they took off and started incorporating different things in the room. It was awesome! But, I also should have known, that my guys love art. Duh.
Those were the big heavy hitters for improvement. I am not discouraged though. Pierce looked up at me later and thanked me for doing school with him. He said he had a lot of fun, and liked it. Now, coming from a 3 1/2 year old, I will take that as a huge compliment. Carter must have enjoyed it; he stayed engaged for almost the whole time. :)
We have school again on Wednesday afternoon, and I need to go update some plans now. Have a great night, and boys thank you for a first day of school!
