Saturday night, Pierce helped me pick out a dress to wear on Christmas Eve, since it turned out I was playing in the bell choir for our night time service. While helping me look for dresses, I asked him if the dress made me look pretty. His response? "Momma, you are always pretty." Can we say instant watery eyes? i know I have said it before, but he has such an old soul, it amazes me.
Carter is really taking off on the conversation aspect of talking. Most of the time, I have no idea what he is saying. However, it is so awesome to see his face all bright and his ENTIRE body animated. He usually has 1 finger in the air shaking around while he is talking; my little Italian. I love it. He is also really starting to get into dancing as well. Pierce had me put in Just Dance 2 so we could get our silliness out and so he could sing and dance. Usually Carter just watches us, but this time he joined in. It was awesome. It is more of a butt shake, but it is a start. Right? :)
Christmas Eve we had the big Italian dinner with the 7 fishes, and all of Dan's family. I was the one under the weather, and did not eat a single thing. However, Pierce dressed up in his oxford shirt with a tie, and Carter had his polo shirt on. They looked so incredibly cute. Now, what was even cuter, was the logic behind the shirt and tie. He wanted to look like his Uncle Johnny - the state representative. Uncle John appreciated that one, and of course loves that the young man wants to be like him. Pierce's favorite gift of the night? A fishing pole set for the bath. He convinced everyone that he needed to go home to go to bed for Santa. We arrive home, and according to Pierce it is bath time so he can play with his fishing pole. And of course Carter joined in.
The phrase of the day today was: Holy Cow! And by the end of the night, Carter started saying it as well. Now, what elicited the response of Holy Cow? It was not the leaptop, the book, the hot dogs, the games, the cars. Nope. It was the biggest train set in the world! Not really, but to him it is. My plan tonight is to set it up while they are sleeping, so they can play with it tomorrow. :) It was so funny to hear this little man pipe up with HOLY COW!
As always, there are lessons learned with everything we do. Pierce has learned that there is a reason why mommy tried to instill a limit on the amount of maraschino cherries he consumed. And he did not have fun revisiting them at 3 am...nor did I have fun cleaning it. Carter is way more of a tank than we give him credit for - he certainly made sure he played with what he wanted to today. And I realized that if you end up sick on Christmas day, it is alright. The kids will still have fun, and it is way comfortable to lay on your mom's couch like you did as a kid and just chill.
All of the boys are in the bathroom currently using the shaving kit that Santa delivered...and the fishing pole. I think bath time is going to become a longer ordeal now, and that is alright. It's fun, healthy, and hey. They are only kiddos once. I hope everyone had a wonderful day, and may God bring peace to all of those today that did not have their babies with them. I could not imagine the pain they are going through. Good night everyone.
