Today started off with just simple coloring, and Pierce was identifying what letters were what. He has down B, U, and T. Not too shabby and I am very proud of him.
From there we went up to Rockwell and did the para-course that they have. For those that do not know what it is, there are 15 or so different stations, and you have to sprint between them. Some of these stations are tricep dips, log jumps, sit ups, etc. Today Pierce decided he needed to do the obstacles with me, so he was doing the tricep dips, sit-ups, etc., and then he started counting each of my reps. It was so cute. By the time we got to the log jumps, Carter had enough of being in the stroller, and started doing them too. It was awesome!
From there we did the playground, where Pierce was so excited that he figured out how to turn on the splash pad. He would run squealing, "momma I turned it on! I hit the yellow button." I couldn't help but smile and laugh. Carter figured out that he can stand on his own, which he was delighted in, but still not motivated enough to keep doing it. And I love how he just sits there and takes in his whole world. Everything is amazing to him. If it is a ball rolling across the floor, or clouds in the sky, everything is amazing. This is such an awe inspiring stage, and I love it.
Carter only snuck in a 1 hour nap, since he woke up screaming from his top two teeth popping in. Pierce decided he was not going to take a nap today. So instead we hung out and played with his train set.
When I cooked dinner today, I gave Pierce man and Carter a bowl of ice and warm water. I showed Pierce that when you drop an ice cube into warm water it crack and pops. He did this over and over and over, and then had Carter do it too. He would give Carter an ice cube and say, "here you go! Put it in here and listen.". From there we moved on to yellow ice cubes. And I asked him what would happen when we put the yellow ice cubes on the water. He thought about it, but eventually answered it would turn the water yellow. He was so excited that he was right.
The last activity we did today was playing at Veteran's Memorial Park with the dog. We did a small run/walk first, followed by the beloved playground. And it is official that Carter can climb up the rings, and Pierce can do the cargo net. It is amazing how quick they are growing and what they can accomplish in a week. Their childhood is going to go by way too fast.
