Semi rainy day

Today we never left the house. We woke up to a rainy, cloudy, day, with a mommy who is very under the weather. I was very grateful that I had done a little bit of planning ahead of time, and had a fully stocked crafts table.

Out first activity of the day was playing with shaving cream. It is amazing how much fun a .50 can of shaving cream created. Pierce had a blast driving his cars through it to see the tire tracks, decorating his face like a beard, and just squishing it. Carter learned that when you splat it, it sprays everywhere. He also learned that it can be squishy and fun. Then I decided to add a little bit of texture to it, so I put in some laundry soap flakes. It honestly did not make a difference to them, and I don think they realized they were in there.

By this time the sun came out, an Pierce was begging for bubbles. We were out of the commercial mixture, so we made our own. And plus with little kids blowing bubbles, I wanted a super strong mixture. Pierce and I combined 2 1/2 cups of water, 1 cup of dish detergent, and 2 tbs of glycerin. These bubbles were great! They were able to survive the harsh bubble blowing of a 2 year old, and it made huge bubbles. While we were blowing the bubbles, I noticed carter pretending to blow them too. So I thought I would let him try...well he decided to eat them. No bubbles for awhile. These bubbles entertained the two of them for over an hour. And they played together so well, it was amazing. They were sharing everything, not fighting, Pierce was helping Carter, I honestly could not ask for a better day.

The last arts and crafts project we did was sun catcher painting. I gave Carter some crayons and paper, and Pierce and I started painting. He was amazed at how you could still see the light through the paint, and you could see the the different colors. He has told everyone in the house how he did this today, and is so proud of his artwork. It was so funny when Pierce spilled some of the paint. He went "oh boy momma. I made a mess and need a paper towel". It was hilarious.

Pierce and Carter are starting to talk more and more, and it is awesome. They are even having "conversations" with each other. And I love that Carter is really getting into his environment now and trying to copy Pierce. For instance, Pierce had taken out his toy cars and was making the car noises and driving them around the floor. Carter picked up the car, looked at it, and started to make the car noise. Carter is also pointing to everything and wondering what the world is. It is great!

Catching bubbles!
Oh yeah.  :)
