I then gave the option of staying here and doing story time with the books that we had, or we could go to the library and take out new ones. Of course my children wanted to go to the library. They love Mrs. B - and she is quite fantastic. What I did not realize was that the library was not open at 9:30 in the morning (yes, it was only 9:30 am at this point). So we went for a quick trip to Toys R US, for Santa to look around. I managed to nab 2 different wooden play sets for the boys, for $10 each. I was SUPER excited. Even more exciting? Neither boy saw me put them under the cart or pay for them, since they were preoccupied with the $2 toy they each picked out. However, Pierce did get a little upset with me, since I would not let him get a new train set, and told me he would go ask somebody else. So that was the last $2 toy he will get. He has to earn the rest, or use his own money.
We then went to the library, where Pierce asked for his own library card to put in his wallet. At the same time, Carter actually climbed up the stairs to check out his music. It was very funny and cute to see Carter standing there talking to Mrs. B. Then the best part: after the library, we came home and met with Ms. Jaime to discharge Pierce from birth to three! Yay! He no longer needs services!!!!!!! Oh what a relief that is. Although we love his teacher, it will be nice to no longer have 2x per week visits. And no special education referral either. Yes!
I attempted to get both kids down for a nap at the same time, but I failed. Miserably. So Pierce helped me make dough, and then both boys played in it. It was called mud dough on paper because they used brown tempera paint in it. However, I used white, and we made snowballs. I did learn, thanks to Pierce, that it does easily get tracked through the house. And it kinda sticks like plaster when dried. They played so hard in this dough, I ended up having to give them both baths again. That was the only way it was all coming off. I did not mind though, since they both loved the texture and they occupied themselves with that and a dish bucket while I made dinner. Carter had the idea first to climb inside the dish bucket (he is the one that loves to climb in boxes, totes, laundry baskets, he doesn't care), and then Pierce sat on top of him and sang Row Row Row Your Boat while rocking it back and forth. It was so cute!
We also had Pierce's weight check at the doctors today...which of course turned into a quick check on Carter too. Pierce is FINALLY up to 29.4 pounds. He has gained 2 pounds in a matter of a month with the diet modifications. He has also shot up to 36 1/4 inches! I knew he was getting much taller. Carter dude is 22.8 pounds. We did not check his height. However, while waiting for the doctor, I was working with Carter standing on his own. He stood on his own for a good solid minute, and then he walked to Pierce! Carter walked 3 steps to Pierce, and then Pierce knocked him over. The pediatrician had just asked me too if Carter was walking yet, and I said no. Go figure, he shows off for the pediatrician. :)
From there we met up with our mommy friends, and went for a walk around Veteran's Park in Watertown, and then ran free on the playground for a couple of hours. At the end, the boys were so tired that Carter passed out in the car, and Pierce had one meltdown since he didn't want to leave the park, and then another REAL NICE temper tantrum in the driveway, because I gave him the wrong toy to play with. Despite his protests of not being tired, he managed to fall asleep within one minute of me putting him in his room. Both boys were asleep by 7:15 tonight, which gave me time to do a little cleaning. :)
I am now going to head to my room and pack since I am going to the fair tomorrow with my mom and the boys. I am so excited to see my mom! And I know the boys will be excited to see Ga too! Good night!
