What a busy day...

I have to admit.  The only thing I had planned for today, was to play with shaving cream, and we never got that far.  Instead, here is how our day went.

Pierce woke up with the birds, yet again.  Made him a breakfast, and then we made a caterpillar out of egg cartons (We go through about 18 eggs a week here, so we have plenty of those).  We then colored an alligator, and I introduced him and Carter to a new song:  If You Should Meet and Elepant.  It is a wicked cute song that teaches kids the seasons, while having them pretend to be some interesting animals.  With the season change upon us, I recommend that you google it.  Pierce loved the song, and Carter danced along.  :)

The boys were still not done with art, and requested more.  While I was figuring out the next activity, we unrolled the road from last week, dumped out the mega blocks and cars, and we instantly had an activity that both boys could enjoy.  Carter loves to make his car noise while he does his crab crawl and pushing the car around.  Pierce likes to see how fast he can roll them - and sometimes how far he can throw them.  Then we added dinosaurs to the mix (per Pierce's request) and the firetrucks and police car had to save the road from the dinosaurs.  It was so much fun watching them play together, and listening to Pierce talk to Carter, and Carter trying to talk back.

From that point, we did golf ball art.  Golf is a major part of our household.  From Thursday through Sunday, the golf channel is on whatever the tournament of the week is, while Pierce and Papa cheer on Tiger Woods (ick) or Phil Mickelson (yay!).  Golf balls have become a staple for everyone to enjoy - including the dog. For each child,  I took 2 of the chewed up golf balls, taped a piece of tracing paper to the bottom of a cookie sheet (or a roasting pan for Carter), dumped out some tempera paint along the edges, and the kids went to town rolling the balls across the paper.  They were fascinated by the patterns the balls were making. However, Carter decided it was much more fun to throw the balls to the dog, and then use his hands to make designs.  Once they were done, I let the papers dry downstairs, and then hung them in the window in the play room.  The combination of tracing paper and tempera paint still allows the light to shine through, and it really highlights the different colors.  Plus, Pierce loves showing off his works of art.

Carter went down for a nap, leaving Pierce time with mommy.  He wanted to look at pictures on the computer, and then he wanted to play some Elmo games.  He then also proceeded to not listen to anything I was saying (he was quite tired, making him a typical 2 year old...he he he) so I made him go down for a nap while Carter was waking up.  Despite him yelling I am not tired, he passed out within 90 seconds of laying down.  Literally.  :)

Since Carter now had mommy's complete attention, we made pumpkin chocolate chip muffins, and then worked on his lack of standing and walking.  I managed to convince him to take a couple of steps on his own, and that he only needed to hold on to one hand while walking.  He still does not like to stand on his own.  He would rather be on the ground, where all of the toys are, and play.  Any suggestions on how to show him that standing is fun?

Upon Pierce waking up, it started to rain, and we went out to dance in the rain.  At some point he must have spilled some bubble mixture on the table outside, because after the rain, I showed him there were bubbles.  I then showed him that if he swished his hands around, he could make more.  This lead to me adding more mixture, and I am sure the cleanest outside table in Thomaston.  :)

Now I am getting home from work, while Danny and the boys are sleeping.  I hope everyone had a great day, and I will update tomorrow!  I know I have things planned, but lets see what the boys want to do.  Good night!
