Happy 5th Anniversary to Us!

Yes, that is right. Dan and I celebrated 5 years of marriage today. We have figured out what does work for our marriage, and what does not work for our marriage. It has not all been bliss, but I can say I am happy. And the boys are happy. That is what counts, right?

However, let me reflect really quick on yesterday. The boys and I were lazy yesterday. And I am not going to sugar coat it. I dropped Pierce off at school, and Carter and I dabbled around Savers to just look. I was going to go for a nice long stroll, but it was cold and raining. Hence why we went exploring in the store, talking about everything that we saw.

I picked Pierce up from school, and it was nap time. He was wired from school, so it was a fight for him to nap. To top it off, Carter would only sleep on mommy. He was nowhere near his normal self yesterday. After nap we went outside to grab kindling since it was cold enough to light a fire. Carter thought it was amusing to keep giving the dog all of our kindling, while Piere was swinging himself on the hammock. Obviously, there was not a lot accomplished during that mission, but there was enough accomplished.

Daddy came home from work, and we went to go pumpkin picking. We made it to March Farms, but they had picked up all of their pumpkins due to the frost and temperatures we had coming in. So instead, we went and walked the boardwalk at White Memorial. We only had one backpack with us, which left Pierce walking the whole thing. And he loved it. We saw a heron about 200 ft away from us, and he was enthralled with all of the water we were walking over. It was so cool to go for a hike and see it through a 2 year olds eyes. I absolutely love how expressive he is, and he makes sure you see exactly what he sees. It makes every little discovery worth it.

Pierce and I were supposed to go to bell choir together, but after taking that big of a hike, he decided he wanted to stay home and watch Baby Einsteim with Carter instead.

This morning I thought we had a muster in Moodus, CT. However the fife and drum calendar must have been updated and we did not know. After arriving at the muster location dressed in our gear, and finding nobody there, Dan suggested we go to my moms house. That made me so happy, since I haven't seen my mom in a long time, and it has been even longer for the kids. We surprised her, and ended up taking a hayride at Hurst Farm. The boys loved the hayride. They were able to feed the cows, jump in 20 tons of hay, and pick pumpkins - all while seeing some o their favorite playmates. Dan and I also climbed up on moms roof and cleaned out the gutters for her. I have been meaning to do it for a long time, and it needed to be done. The boys played with their Ga while we were able to hang out on the roof. It was a win win for all of us. :)

We then had dinner together, and went downstairs to play. I found some extra PVC piping that I have been looking for, and cut that into pieces for the boys. I started playing swords with my mom, and of course Pierce caught on and jumped in.

When we were done playing swords and cleaning up downstairs, my mom somehow convinced Carter to walk. So he held onto just one hand and walked down the hall and through the kitchen.

Now we are driving home. Rather, Dan is driving us home, and I am updating this. Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow! Good night!

Go Pierce, go!

Friday night, he fell asleep with one of my old dolls.  :)

Horrible picture, but even Carter took a jump in the hay.
