They are only 2 once...thank goodness. :)

I have decided that Pierce being a two year old is a love hate relationship. Please don't get me wrong, I love my children unconditionally, but sometimes I really have to stop and wonder if I am talking to a 2 year old or 15 year old. Yikes!

Pierce's humor and wit have been developing so rapidly, and it is so incredibly amazing. He has also developed this amazing sense of empathy and compassion, that I hope he never loses. Amber, our beloved golden retriever, was attacked yesterday in our yard by another dog. She greeted this dog who comes over all the time, and the dog just flipped on her. She had a clean tear through her ear, and a couple of wounds to her neck. I was not here when it happened, but Pierce apparently watched the whole thing. :(. I came home from work just as the other dog left, and Dan was trying to clean up all of the blood. My job was to bandage Amber and clean her up with peroxide. The entire time I was doing this, Pierce just held Amber telling her it would be OK, and momma would get rid of the boo boos. He then kept an eye on her for the rest of the day and kept asking her if she was OK.

However, a switch flipped today when he was sleeping last night, and he was one tough cookie to deal with. Carter has been tough due to cutting 6 teeth at once, but Pierce was just out of control this morning. He was upset about me being at work, and did a full temper tantrum at the library while Dan had him. From what I heard, it was bad enough to the point that Dan had to carry him out like a football.

When I came home, Dan decided to take us all hiking. It is great training for him to get used to backpacking extra weight. Pierce cooperated until it started raining. He then decided that he was not walking. When I picked him up, he flipped out yelling no, while kicking and punching me. He did get yelled at for that stunt, and I told him there will be no more fun things until he can shape up his attitude and prove he can be a good boy.

Once we arrived home, I sent him straight to bed absolutely angry and disappointed in him for his behavior. Dan tucked him in first, and then I felt bad that I did yell at him and took away all trips with me. I asked him why he had such a horrible morning, and he told me it was because he was sad that he woke up and I was not home. And he told me I was not allowed to work anymore. I explained that if we want to have fun, and he wants to go to school, that I have to work. I then snuggled in with him, and we both fell asleep for 3 hours. We had a much better afternoon, and he told me tonight that he needed to go to bed because he was tired now.

Carter watches everything, so I hope Carter realizes that he will not get away with this behavior. In the mean time though, Carter did start saying cat today. Yay! He also stood up from my lap and ran to the couch. :). My babies are growing up way too fast.

I need to get some sleep, since I have work in the morning. Hope everyone has a great day tomorrow!
