I know I have said before that I need to stop and smell the roses, but I really need to listen to my advice. After Pierce going a week with no accidents in his underwear, and Carter finally walking when he thinks nobody is looking, my kids are growing up way too fast. And I have to admit I am a major worrier and need to just relax.
Yesterday the boys and I really focused on the color green. We read a few books about the color green in nature, and went on a scavenger hut through the house. Pierce did a worksheet I found that had him color the circles and wagons different colors, then cut out the circles and glue them to matching colors. I am not a huge fan of worksheets, but he loved it. I attempted to have Carter color with just the color green, but instead he ate it. Carter lasted all of 5 minutes before he just played with stickers instead.
After we did our colors, the boys ram through the house, and Pierce decided he needed to cook me dinner at 9 am. While we had our pretend picnic, Carter was working on standing on his own. I went out to the kitchen for something, and I hear Pierce yell, "momma look!" I look and Carter is walking between the TV and the toy kitchen. He saw me, stopped, sat down, and laughed. I asked him to get up, and he shook his head no. So he can walk, he chooses not to.
From there we went to story time in Litchfield, which is always a success. My kids love Mrs Shaia, and she is a fantastic librarian. Only Carter fell asleep on the way home, but there were no fights about napping from Pierce - which is amazing.
After naps we had lunch, and went for a walk through downtown. We went into the bank, the post office, saw a steam roller and dump truck, and picked dandelions. Then I left for work, but came home to some really awesome paintings. :).
Today Pierce had school, and made sure I knew it the minute he woke up. He was very eager to get dressed, but refused to wear a pull up to school. He wanted underwear only. And he stayed dry the entire time he was at school! The only reason he was changed was because he dribbled. Lol. Carter was very sad to have Pierce leave for school, but once we go home and we danced, sang songs, and cleaned the bathroom, he was happy as a clam. But he fell asleep on the way to pick up Pierce, and was very happy to see him when he woke up.
I actually snuck in a map with the boys today, since Carter tool a huge nap, and Pierce took his normal 2 hour. Yippee! From there we had lunch, and headed out to Burr Pond in Winchester. It was absolutely beautiful with the leaves, and we hiked for so long that the sun started to set over the mountains as we were kindly asked to leave by the ranger (I thought dogs were allowed on the beach off season. Oops!). On out walk today, Carter touched a waterfall, Pierce and I touched a newt, and it was hilarious to see Pierce trying to walk Amber. But we just kept hiking until Pierce couldn't anymore. And it was so relaxin talking about the leaves, waterfalls, rocks, and everything else that a 1 year d and 2 yet old can think of. It gave me the idea of going somewhere tomorrow and having an old fashioned picnic with the boys, blanket and all. :)
Then we came home and the boys jumped into their ball pit and played in their tunnel with their headlights from camping. They were also sharing my old baby doll and taking turns changing her diaper and feeding her. Before we knew it, it was dinner time. Now Carter is out of the bath playing with Papa, and Pierce is a prune, that is growing gills while transforming into a fish as I type. Don't worry, I am on my phone and playing with him while I do this. He is not unattended in a bath.
It is time to get this kid out of the tub, and pick up Daddy from work. We hope that everyone had a great couple o days, and I will try to update tomorrow since I have no work. Good night!
