How can children be so wise?

Today, Dan's car had to go into the shop, due to a pesky little check engine light, and a gas cap problem.  Oh, and no heat too (way for everything to break at once).  This left me to drive him to work, and then pick him up, so that the boys and I could enjoy one of the few sunny days this week.  The boys and I found this place in Wilton called Schneck's Island.  It is simply a nature conservatory, but it also runs along the rail road tracks to NYC and also has a river (2 of the boys favorite things).  We spent about 2 1/2 hours walking around, throwing rocks in the water, and watching the trains go by.  Pierce even figured out that they were electric trains, and not diesel like we have in town.  :)

While we were there, Pierce was trying so hard to get Carter to walk.  He would hold onto Carter's tiny little hands and tell him to stand up, followed by, "don't worry Carter, I am not going to drop you."  Carter actually did stand up with Pierce a couple of times, and it was warming to the soul to see the bond and trust they have in each other.  Pierce then showed Carter how to climb a tree and hang from one.  Thankfully, Carter did not attempt that.  What was even cooler, is the entire time we were walking, I could feel Carter shifting everywhere on my back, while pointing and asking "What's that?"  He is so alert, and so aware of his surroundings, it is great.  And don't forget saying hello to everyone he saw as well.  Even if it was just a bird. lol.

By the end of the walk, I needed to use a restroom, and the only one near by that made sense to stop at was the Danbury Fair Mall.  Well, maybe what was my reasoning, but I really wanted to show the boys the carousel...and I wanted to ride it.  :)  I found out that I get to ride for free until Carter is 44" tall (Yippee!), since that is when he can officially go on by himself.  They boys absolutely loved the carousel, and Carter cried at the beginning before it started, and at the end before it ended.  he wanted it to keep going round and round.  Pierce even correlated the carousel to one of his books we read at night, Carousel Round and Round.  He has been doing a fantastic job at connecting all of the dots lately, and putting things together that he is learning in all sorts of different places.  He is pulling stuff from school, his cousins, Baby Einstein, you name it.  It is really awesome to watch his facial expressions as he makes all of the connections too.

When we arrived home, I received a not so nice letter in the mail about a back payment that I owed, and I started crying.  I know I should not have in front of the kids, but I cannot help it sometimes.  My sweet, loving Pierce, looks at me and says, "No crying Momma.  it's okay.  Wipe them away, ok peanut?"  That made me cry even more, but at least it wasn't because I am stressed.  After we picked Daddy up from work, I took off to work to try and grab as many hours as I can.  Dan told me that they were the best kiddos ever, and apparently they did some painting, since they are on the table as we speak...or as I type.  :)

I am heading off to bed, and hope you all have a great day.  I never anticipated how much being a mom would change me and my views, and I hope that I keep changing as I grow older.  And it will always astonish me at how wise children can be.
