We have had a great few days here. Sunday I worked for almost 10 hours, so I saw very little of my boys. After doing one long day like that, I have decided that no matter how poor we are and where we live, I will stay home with my kids. I missed them so much. Maybe it is slightly irresponsible of us, but it is what I need an certainly what the kids need. They were so elated to have me home, and were absolutely crazy over momma. Pierce just laid on me am watched Mickey, and Carter woke up to me being home. So we went for a nice walk into the neighborhood across the street and found 3 horses. Oh man were the kids happy about that too, and now Pierce wants to see them every day. I have no idea how to fit in all of the stuff he wants to do every day. We have quite a list going...lol.
Monday the boys were a bit off kilter. We started off with a very cranky Carter and a Pierce man that was dying to do his schoolwork. I had some major catch up to do on house work and laundry and very quickly found myself extremely overwhelmed. But we did our schoolwork, Carter figured out how to build a block tower out of cylinders and rectangles, and we did storyline at the library. Then we went for a nice little walk around town with our friends, and the kids jumped off the stairs over and over. The way cool part? Carter held onto my pinky and walked about 1/10 of a mile on his own. :). Yay Carter!
That afternoon Pierce and I went outside to fill the bird feeder again. He was so cute saying, "come on birdies! It is food time!" But then he became upset when no birds were coming. I tried to explain it was because they don't come out when humans are near the feeder, so he sat on the steps waiting and then cried because they were still not coming. I made sure to point out all the birds today for him. I really felt horrible for the kiddo.
Today we started our day with science experiments. First we made smash balls. They are simply cotton balls soaked in food colored flour and water then baked in an oven. First I had Pierce guess if they were going to come out of the oven and be mushy or hard. He guessed hard, and then when they did come out he said they were just like cookies. His logic? They were hard on the outside, but soft on the inside. Good job Pierce. Then we also took our kid hammers and cracked them open so we worked on our hand and eye coordination.
We also did play dough today, which ended up in Carter's hair and all over the kitchen for some reason. It is alright though- the boys were each handed a sponge and helped clean it up. They were more happy about cleaning than playing, I think.
Carter is all over the place now and is really loving the whole concept of walking am chasing Pierce. He is also loving the phrase, "Uh oh, spaghettios". He also uses please now when he wants something, and is just trying to do so many things on his own now. It is amazing and wonderful.
And speaking of growing up, Pierce steam mopped the kitchen, living room, hallway, and bathroom tonight. He also has decided he liked having hot chocolate with daddy every night, since daddy "makes it really special and I can tell him my day". That was so awesome to hear.
Now we are cuddled up on the couch watching Guess How Much I Love You on Disney Jr., and Carter is passed out. We have had such a fun day today, and it was so laid back. The only trip we took was Carter to the doctor (turns out he has a sinus infection), and all of us were more than okay with that. Good night everyone. Time to finish cuddling with my way too fast growing little boy. :)
