Project Day!

Today was project day.  Or rather, it was supposed to be project day, but go figure my children are still cranky from being sick, and just wanted to watch TV.  That did not stop me though - we did do two projects.

We started off by making Christmas trees out of paper plates.  I had them pain the plates green, let them dry, layer the pieces of plate to look like branches, and then they put glitter and sequins on them.  They came out so incredibly cute, and I will update with a picture later.  What struck me as awesome was that Carter actually enjoyed playing in the glitter, the glitter did not end up as far across the floor as I had envisioned, and Pierce requested yellow paint since pine trees are not just green.  Very good observation Mr. Pierce, very good.

We also did shaving cream, which is a huge go to in our house.  They used brillo pads, sponges, fingers, anything you could think of to play in it.  However, it did peel some of the varnish off of the table we were using, so I can now add a grown up project to my list of redoing a table.  Oops!  This also of course required them to take a bath, since they were covered head to toe in shaving cream.

Neither of my children napped today.  At one point I gave up trying, put them both in their room, and announced it was mandatory mommy down time.  What do I hear in the room?  "Come on Carter, I will read tag to you...Carter do you like this song?...Carter I love you...Carter check this out."  He was so incredibly sweet to Carter while they were in there.  Then I opened the door to look at them after the last statement, and I see Pierce dressing up like a pirate.  However, Pierce had quite an attitude with me for making him nap.  And also for not giving him a lollipop, when he demanded one.  You have to love all the good and bad, right?  :)

Now I have had them follow a schedule, and they are in bed for the night, no fights involved.  Wow that is an amazing accomplishment.  I am heading to pack our bags, since we are traveling to my moms for the weekend.  That means you will probably not get an update for the next few days.  Good night everyone!
