New work schedule = faster pace of life.

Good afternoon!  It is so hard to believe that today is Wednesday...it feels like I was just getting ready to head to NY to have my mommy night out.  However, that is obviously not the case, so lets see what has occurred over the last 5 days.

When I arrived in NY on Friday night, I called the house to let Dan know I made it safe and sound since I left in a rain/ice storm.  When I spoke with Pierce, and told him I was in NY, he asked me if I was with Toota (Trisha).  I did say yes, and then he informed me that we needed to have a chat when I came home.  I arrived home Saturday afternoon just as he was waking up from his nap, and he gave me THE MEANEST LOOK ever.  And he told me I got it since I went and did fife and drum without him.  Isn't he going to be surprised in February when I do it for 2 nights in a row?  :)

We did family bowling time Saturday night...which meant Carter trying to pick up every bowling ball in the place and running like a wild man, while Pierce was determined to be independent and not have help from anyone.  He did have help from the bumpers, but he did roll the ball all by himself for most of the game.  Way to go Pierce!

Sunday Dan sang for the Sandy Hook Elementary Concert that Eastern CT State University put on in Willimantic.  That meant that the boys and I were able to hang out, and also go to our friend's house and play with him for a bit.  It gave us moms a chance to chat, and I think all three boys tired themselves out.  According to Pierce, we were not able to leave until we met the little boy's daddy, and he was determined about that.

We started off Monday by taking advantage of the amazing weather that we had.  I am talking 50 degrees at 9 am.  It was foggier than I have seen in a long time, but I did not care.  I took the boys and the dog for a walk down at the Thomaston Dam, and even brought along Pierce's scooter.  Carter had a major issue walking - and actually sat in the middle of the road refusing to move until I picked him up.  Pierce started whining and wanted to return home.  Just as I caved in, our awesome friends arrived, and both boys had some attitude adjustments.  :)  I was extremely grateful, and it was nice to have the kids playing so that the parents could actually catch up.  Adult conversation is always nice.

We then had story time at the Thomaston library, which of course the boys love.  Carter was really clingy though, and didn't really do too much.  That was the story with him all day.  He didn't have a temp, no runny nose, he was just super clingy.  I will chalk it up to me being gone overnight.  Pierce, however, was Mr. Social, and had to make sure that everyone knew he could go poop on the potty by himself.

Tuesday was another story time day; however this time was Litchfield library.  It is a super popular story time, and Pierce hung back this time.  Carter was completely being a social butterfly, and was all about socializing.  It still amazes me how opposite they are, yet how much alike they are.  I never imagined that would happen.  When we came home, Carter went for a nap immediately, while Pierce worked on stamping and cutting.  I worked on the lets clean out our stuff and clean out the basement project.  It feels so nice to free ourselves of the baby stuff and the multiples of everything.  However, it is a reminder that my boys are growing so fast, and nothing can slow it down.

Tuesday night we went swimming, and Dan and I always think it is so funny how the boys switch.  What I mean, is normally Pierce is a Momma's boy, while Carter prefers Daddy.  When it comes to swimming, Pierce wants nothing to do with me, and Carter wants nothing to do with Daddy.  It is hilarious.  Last night Dan grabbed Pierce a pool noodle to start learning how to float (and the kid has no body fat).  By the end of the night, Pierce was swimming across the pool pretty much 99% on his own.  He was having a blast!  Carter made big improvements as well - he has figured out how to pull himself out of the pool using the side so he can jump back in on top of mommy.  :)  Needless to say, I obtained an arm work out.

This morning we started with just a quick weight check at the doctor for Pierce - and the little bugger has gained 10 pounds in 2 1/2 months!  No wonder why he is eating so much!  He is still rail thin, but he has also grown quite a few inches.  Carter has thankfully slowed down on his growing, so that makes it REALLY nice to see a gap between them.  Following the doctor appointment, we scurried off to Imagination Museum in Bristol.  We still love it there, and the boys had so much fun.  Carter was way overtired by the end, and was crying over everything.  Pierce did not want to take his scrubs off and stop pretending to be a doctor.  It was really funny.  I have to say he looked pretty awesome wearing those scrubs.  :)

Now it is family nap time, and I should be partaking.  However, I have a few pieces of business I need to take care of first.  Have a great day everyone!  And boys, thank you for making my life so crazy.  I honestly would not have it any other way.
