Daddy is at work for at least the next 24 hours (I am honestly okay with that. I would rather him be stuck there than trying to drive in this. You literally cannot see an inch in front of you), I picked up a bottle of moscato wine, and now that the kids are in bed, I actually am having some time to myself. So I say bring it Nemo! The Knowlton family is ready. In the meantime, here are some things that we did this week.
On Wednesday, February 6, 2013, I took the boys to Play it Again Sports in Southington to obtain some hockey skates for Pierce. (By the way, that is the BEST place to go for sports equipment. She is fantastic, patient, and kind). He kept talking about playing hockey with his cousins, and he kept passing a tennis ball around downstairs with the road hockey stick he has. My original intentions were to purchase double blades for him. However, since he has such a huge foot, they didn't have any double blades. It also turns out he has inherited quite a bit of hockey DNA from my side of the family (my beloved grandfather used to play in Canada), and from Dan's side. He was running through the store in single blade skates, within 5 minutes of putting them on. Yay! Once we came home, I ended up finding the ones that go over shoes and Carter inherited those. I never in a million years thought Carter would enjoy skating. I apparently thought wrong; the boys went to their Auntie's house on Wednesday afternoon to skate, and they both LOVED it. Dan met me there after work, and we had to pry the kids off before I left for work. It is such an awesome feeling to know that my boys will try anything. That, other than this storm, was the highlight of the week.
Other things we did this week:
Dinosaur footprints to go along with the book Dazzle the Dinosaur
*we dipped our dinosaur feet into paint and had them stomp across the paper. Even Carter got into it.
Dance: I had printed off the different feet positions for ballet, so Pierce and I have been working on those. Carter has been working on flips and jumps. As long as there is music, the boys are happy :)
Art: Big craft was taking coffee filters, medicine droppers, and colored water to create cool patterns. We then decided to use napkins and paper towels to check out different textures. After they were dry, we put them in between two pieces of contact paper and hung them in the window. Voila! Sun catchers!
Reading: The library has a project going on where for every book you read, you are able to color in the scale on your dragon. Once the dragon is full, you receive a coupon for a free dragon cupcake. Pierce could care less about the cupcake. He just wants to fill in his dragon - therefore we are reading a TON of books.
Hope everyone rides this storm out safely, and I will try to touch base in a few days when I am done playing in snow. :) As I sign out, I would like to leave you with a recent conversation that took place in the house:
Pierce: momma are you 25?
Me: I'm older than 25. I'm 28.
Papa: papa is 25
Me: times 3. Oh burn!
Pierce: Yeah papa. Oh burn!
1st time on ice! |
These boys sure do have amazing cousins. |
