Sorry for not posting yesterday at all. As most of you know, we are down to one computer, and Dan hopped on to it last night before I was able to. So he won, and honestly, it felt amazing to go to bed before 11 pm. So let's see - the highlights of yesterday.
Yesterday morning was a bit disheveled. We were out of our routine, and most of that was my fault. However, the boys and I did go take a look at a daycare/preschool for Mr. Pierce. I am torn about this idea of putting him in a preschool for a couple of says a week. A part of me is screaming YES! And another part of me is screaming no. I want him to go for that socialization, and to be used to being away from mommy. I want him to be challenged by being in a totally different element than he is used to. On the flip side, I do lesson plans every day for these guys, take them everywhere, expose them to a bunch of different things, and really try my best to make them well rounded. And did I mention that Pierce has been begging to go to school lately?
So the preschool/daycare I looked at yesterday, is a home daycare with a total of 8 kids in his class. She pairs up an older preschooler with a younger preschooler so that they learn together. She also already has lesson plans done for the month of September, and she has been doing this for 16 years. The best part? Pierce ran into the house and started playing with the other children that were there. As we were leaving, he asked if he could come back there to go to school. Plus, she is willing to work with me on his speech and separation anxiety. This momma is in love. And after discussing it with Dan, well, having Dan say either way, I think I am going to enroll him starting at 2 days per week, and maybe moving up if need be. How can I tell my kid that "No, you cannot go to school?" I cannot do that. And plus she takes them on field trips everywhere. Awesome.
After touring the school, I was supposed to go to a meet-up, but the kids passed out in the car. When they woke up, I took Pierce to the farmer's market in town. The kid went CRAZY picking out all sorts of fruits and veggies. And he insisted on white eggplant. Guess what I am cooking tonight? You got it. White eggplant. :) We also had Nana over for dinner and to just hang out and play. It was awesome catching up with her, and hearing about her excursions in Ireland. I have also come to realize, I need to find a way to have her over for dinner once a week. She has a lot of insight to things, and the boys love having her here. So, note to self. See Nana way more often.
Now Pierce has been amazing with potty training. I am totally doing it at his pace, and his new thing is making bubbles while he pees. He accomplishes this by standing up "just like daddy" and peeing really hard into the toilet. However, he refuses to go poop. So while doing clean up time last night, he had a slight #2 accident on the floor...next to his brother. Since I had walked down the hall, I did not see this taking place. I did find the aftermath of Carter thinking it was finger paint. After trying not to puke, I threw both children in the tub, and had Dan pick up the poop. UGH! And yet, I know this stage will be gone in the blink of an eye - and I don't think I will miss the potty training. lol.
Every night, Pierce picks out three books for me to read to him and Carter. Brown Bear Brown Bear is on the list, every night. Last night, I asked Pierce to read the book to Dan and I, and he did. From front to back, and wanted to do it again. I know it is pure memorization, but it made me cry. It was one of those AHA! moments, where I realized if we hadn't done this with him since he was born, he wouldn't be at this point now. And maybe he wouldn't even like books. I don't know. But seeing the smile and the pride all over his face, just melted my heart. THAT I CANNOT WAIT FOR CARTER TO DO TOO! My night time snuggles and readings I will miss.
I will come back on later tonight (hopefully) and update about our trip to the zoo today! It was a great trip with a few surprises for us!
