Today wasn't anything really spectacular. Started the day off going to Walmart and target to stock up on simple arts and crafts stuff: glitter, beads, cornstarch, flour, etc. Pierce did not have a successful time listening to me, and almost got hit by a car as we left due to him darting into traffic. Man that was scary. However he did tell me he had to go potty while we were there, and held it until we got into the bathroom. That counts, right?
So while we were at Target, Pierce starts begging me to sing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow". So I did what any mom would do that was tryin to keep a 2 year old happy - I walked through the store singing, and laughing with those laughing with me. I don't know if they were laughing at my singing or Pierce's, but at least they had a laugh.
Carter dude refused to nap today. Dan am I could not figure out where this kid ha all of this energy, other than just maybe from sleeping through the night? In any case, while Pierce was napping, I brought Carter with me to the downstairs playroom, so that I could clean it and he could play. I found a dishpan down there, an wanted to create a sensory bin for the kids where they could scoop and pour. Then I thought of all the super stale cereal we had upstairs, so we went upstairs and created the bin. Carter LovED it. And by using cereal, the dog helps with clean up. :).
When Pierce awoke from his mid afternoon slumber, he ate 2 plates of eggplant parm I made from scratch. Then we went outside to play after he was hosed off. He wanted me to lay on the hammock with him, and I did. And he started tellin me all about the sky ad the colors of the leaves, and what he wants to do this week, and ended it with "momma, no more work. You stay home with dada and me.". To say that has been on my mind the entire time I was at work tonight, is an understatement. But I can tell you one thing, if Pierce will open up to me and talk like that nonstop just because we are on the hammock together, then we need to create more of that time.
And from there the family split. I went to work, and Dan took the boys over to grams for a crazy Sunday lunch. DAn said they had a great time, and that both boys loves playing with their cousins.
I am going to depart tonight with some pictures of our day. You have to love having an iPhone an being able todo all of this. :).
