Could it be? Two lazy days in a row?

Yes!  It can be!  And we had a blast.  I woke up at 4:30 this morning, since my body decided that 6 1/2 hours straight of sleep was enough (although, that backfired at about 1 pm.  Oops!).  Both little guys woke up at 6:30, and we all snuggled on the couch watching Octonauts.  What a weird show that is, but they are learning about the ocean from it, so why not?  And it allows me to have coffee, so I am totally not going to feel bad about my guilty pleasure time.

I figured that since they were up, and in fantastic moods, that why not get the shopping out of the way early for this weekend?  Well, Pierce decided that he is officially too big to go in the shopping cart, so he helped push the shopping cart.  When you have a two year old helping you push a cart, it is amazing how fast you can get your shopping done.  This is REALLY true when he does not understand the concept of stopping to put things in the cart.  However, both of them made every older lady in the store smile and laugh.  I offered to lend him out to the older ladies as help, but there were no takers (and no, I really wouldn't leave him).

When we got home, I asked Pierce if he wanted to do any arts and crafts today, or anything in particular.  I got the response of, "I want to go outside and run and run and run."  So, after putting away the groceries, we went outside and did just that.  The dog needed a bath today, and it was hot, so I brought out the little plastic pool and gave the dog a bath.  What ended up happening was a two year old jumping in the pool to help soap up the dog, and a one year old splashing in the water.  It was actually really fun, and the kids completely took pride in giving the doggy a bath.  And then from there we played mommy sprinkler (spraying the hose in the air), and filled the pool up with clean water to throw rocks in.  Then I cleaned up the sand table, refilled it, and just enjoyed the sun.  Pierce discovered a lady bug in his sand table, and was so happy that it crawled all over him.  He demanded that I get my real camera and take a picture of it.  He brought it over to his fort, this way nobody would squish it, and he followed it everywhere.  After about two hours of playing outside, both kids wanted in, and since it was close to nap and lunch time, I did not mind.  Plus, happy kids equals a happy mommy.

Pierce and I decided to make a different kind of lunch today.  Looking at our diet, I have realized that we eat a ton of fruit, but not so many vegetables.  The solution for today?  Making zucchini nuggets.  And it was something totally simple to make, that Pierce pretty much did on his own.  I just took two zucchini, sliced them, made an egg wash, and dipped the slices into bread crumbs to evenly coat both sides. After10 minutes at 400 degrees, we had zucchini nuggets to go with our chicken nuggets.  Pierce loved them - more because he made them.  Carter?  Well, they were really fun to throw. I will try again a different day with him.  After stuffing the kids, Pierce laid down to take a "rest" (I cannot call it a nap anymore.  He gets HIGHLY offended), while Carter was put in his crib for a much protested, yet needed, nap.  Lately Carter has not wanted to sleep unless he was with me, and today was no exception.  And Pierce ended up taking a nap, after his listening ears turned off and they would not turn on.

We were supposed to go to March Farms for a play date, but all three of us slept up until it started.  Instead, we grabbed the dog, and went for a run at Rockwell.  Pierce requested that he run with the dog and I, and I just could not say no.  It is the paracourse there - so there are stations to stop at.  I figured he would do he first bit of running, and the obstacle, but then stop.  Yeah - not so much.  He ran that entire mile, and did the obstacles.  To say I am shocked right now is an understatement.  Despite it obviously no being up to my speed, he ran hard for a little dude.  And I am glad I brought a banana with me - he was absolutely famished at the end, and or a good reason too.  Amber made the rounds on the play ground, and followed Carter all over to make sure he was not getting near edges.  I was obviously there too. Pierce has really started to take pride in what he owns, and was telling everyone how Amber is not mommy's dog, it is his dog.  On the way out of the park, we stopped at the river so Pierce could throw rocks to the dog (yes, she goes under water to get them), and apparently Carter decided that the water was perfect to dive in.  What a crazy boy he is becoming. And I honestly love it, since it is helping Pierce come out of his shell too.  :)

Now we are home, and the boys were able to finally see Daddy, after asking for him all day.  They have played Daddy Choo Choo train, did the hokey pokey, and are now playing in the bath.

One thing, (there are more than one) that amazes me, is that Pierce was asking about Auntie Nancy today, and swore he saw her car.  On the way home from Rockwell, I let him play with my phone, since he has figured out how to work the music aspect of it.  All of a sudden, I hear a voice on speaker phone, and it was Nancy!  I haven't called her in a long time, but he was so happy to talk to her.  It is amazing how high tech his generation is - but I have no clue how he found her number.  It is not like he can read yet.

Alright, this momma is signing off.  I am going to have to take back over since Dan has bowling tonight - which means it is wine time once these guys are in bed, and I will not have to fall asleep to a snoring hubby.  Yay!!!!  (Love you Dan!).  Have a great day tomorrow everyone!

Daddy Choo Choo time!
Man, I wish I had this kid's abdominal strength!
