Magical Summer Days

As summer comes to an end, I couldn't help but have the yearning to enjoy just one more summer day. That was not the original plan for today (I really did plan on getting back on our schedule) but that is certainly how it worked out.

I have been recently talking to Pierce about different states we are in. He knows New York, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. I was showing him pictures of things we can do in CT this morning, and he saw a picture of Gillette Castle. And off we went to explore the grounds.

Another intention was just to go there and return home since I still have cleaning to do before Sunday. However, we explored the grounds and then hiked down to the CT river to see the ferry. This of course turned into throwing rocks into the river and climbing pieces of fallen down trees. We then hiked back up to the castle and learned a little bit about William Gillette and the trains that used to be on the grounds.

From Gillette Castle we randomly decided to go to Rocky Neck. I think it is one of the last nice beach days we are going to have left, and since it was only 12.1 miles away, why not? My GPS took me across the ferry and the boys and I loved riding the ferry in the car. It was all of our first times being on a ferry, so that made it even cooler.

I had absolutely nothing for the beach. No swim diapers, no toys, not even a towel. However, we had a blast! Carter literally dove out of my arms to just dive and roll in the sand. It was awesome. And Pierce man do actually jumped into the water and was enjoying the waves. However, he did notice that these were little waves, and made sure that I knew it. He also made sure that I knew he was disappointed in the size of the waves. Lol. other than that they played in sand holes together, played with seaweed, and chased seagulls for over two hours. And they crashed the minute I turned the car on to drive home. :)

Now the best parts of the day? Pierce ending his night helping me make cupcakes from scratch, turning around an saying "I love you momma. I really do.". It brought tears to my eyes. And then Carter giving me all sorts of cuddles tonight is awesome. I know by their actions tonight that they truly appreciated today, and it was recharging for me too.

Good night everyone!
