Today was the big day that Pierce has been looking forward to for weeks now: He was able to have some new friends over for a play date. There ended up being 6 additional kiddos in the house, and while it was loud, chaotic, and toys being strewn everywhere, seeing Pierce and Carter so happy made it worth while. Although, it was kinda funny that at one point Pierce had tip toed to my room and locked himself in there with a sippy cup. When I asked him why, his simple response was, "Momma, it's too loud. I will come back out when I am ready." The 2 hours that everyone was here for went by in a blur, and it was nice to meet some different mommies. We had a homeschooling mommy, and a couple from quite a bit of a drive away.
Now, here is even bigger news: Pierce, voluntarily, went poop on the potty! Yay! He was downstairs with me this morning doing laundry and took the stance. I was expecting a fight, but I asked him if he had to poop. He said, "Yes mommy, and I need to run to the potty." I gave him his Elmo Potty Time book while he was on the potty, and he was so happy that he went on the toilet. Every person that he ran into today, he has made sure to tell them he went poop on the toilet. And yes, that includes the little old lady at Target who was kind enough to at least laugh.
Carter was all about pointing to everything he could see today, once the kiddos left. And I guess he realized that the leaves are changing color, because when we went to Target, he was pointing at all of the cool colored leaves squealing in delight. I wish it was not going to be a rainy day tomorrow. I would love to take him up into the Berkshires to see the leaves, and take a hike. Maybe this weekend? If we do not have a tag sale?
And I have to admit, I did take a nap today. I took an amazing, rejuvenating 30 minute nap. This was not even on the couch, but in my bed. I really forgot how much 30 minutes can be. This is also after no sleep last night between the 3 men in the house. However, Pierce is trying to fall asleep on his own tonight, and Carter already did. The problem is that Pierce keeps getting up to use the potty, and is livid I put a diaper on him for overnight protection. Keeping my fingers crossed that I only have one in diapers by the end of the month. Yippee!
I know this was short, but I am going to sign off tonight to catch up on me time, while it is just the boys and I in the house. Oh, the quiet.
