Thursday was a BUSY day. It started off very rough - Mr. Pierce did not want to listen or behave. However, after sitting in his room and then having to wash walls, his attitude changed tremendously. That was a fantastic idea on his behalf, since we had a play date with Nanny today at the Children's Museum in West Hartford. The boys were so excited to see her, and just like they did with my mom, they dragged her everywhere. It was adorable, and I hope these guys know just how lucky they are that they are able to have so many generations of love around them. Not a lot of children are this fortunate...and while it can be difficult at times, it certainly is a blessing.
We closed out Thursday night with some family swim time at the YMCA. Even with his blue tinted chattering lips, managed to swim 35 minutes, until Daddy and I finally told him he was done. Carter dude lasted 40 minutes until I yanked him from the pool, despite his screams and tears of protest. And let me tell you, those boys ate a TON when they came home. It was really nice to see.
Today we attempted to stay out of the house as much as we could, since Mimi and Papa are sick and both stayed home today. We traveled over to Fun Factor in Middlebury to use a gift card that was given to us for Christmas. Pierce was in Heaven. There were inflatable fire trucks that were turned into slides, obstacle courses, and a huge place to just run. Carter cared about one thing, and one thing only; the cozy coupe car. The dreaded, pink and purple cozy coupe car. There was no sharing, no distracting Carter from it. In his mind it was HIS car. This logic was fine - until another little boy showed up that had the same set of logic. And then the fight ensued. Literally. My calm, angelic, cherub looking Carter yanked him by his hair, to try to pull him out. Before we were asked to leave, I picked Carter up, apologized to the fellow mom, and told Pierce we needed to leave - NOW. Here is what surprised me - he simply said, "Ok mommy. We can go now. I know Carter is sad." He walked over to the shoe cubby, put on his shoes, and then further asked what he could do to help. I was flaberghasted. First by Carter, then by Pierce. I gave Pierce the diaper bag, put Carter into a football hold, and walked out of the play area. Pierce did get some munchkins after that one. And I did not make him share.
The rest of the day was decent - did some fife and drum time, and then I took off to the gym for some ME time. And it felt fantastic. Granted, I did go with a friend, but it was still ME time, since there were no children near me. :) I love you Pierce and Carter, but mommy just has to be mommy sometimes. Now the kiddos are in bed, and I need to catch some sleep so I can enjoy my job tomorrow instead of dreading it. Good night everyone!
A little fun factor action. |
